an evening with nancy pelosi

Thanks to a politically aware and very enthusiastic neighbor, I found out about an opportunity to see Nancy Pelosi at the Wortham Center downtown. On our way, we began to see protesters on the side and police on horses, and we went in through the back door and found:

Protesters! According to the news the next day, there were about 600 of them. They were yelling extremist comments at everyone walking inside to hear the talks. A couple of us went back out and walked through the crowd just for the experience. Ooh.

The actual talk: Madame Speaker is such a calm, relaxed speaker. The talk was set up that it was more of a conversation with Randall Morton, sitting on the couches and throwing questions back and forth. She talked about her view on the state of politics right now, plans for the future, and a lot about her new book, which we all got a free copy of.
Book is not a heavy read, it reads more like a breezy novel. I'd give it two stars, because people who pick up a book by Nancy Pelosi would expect some more dirt.
